We leverage extensive training in conflict leadership through ADRIA and specifically an interest-based model that helps move parties from positions to interests and solutions that meet the needs of both parties.
In conflict, it is commonplace for parties to feel positional and want to pursue litigation on “principle”.
Cornerstone can help your team develop the mediation and negotiation skills required to build understanding, which is the cornerstone before you can move to solutions.
Mediation
Mediation provides a structured approach for parties to build understanding, which is the cornerstone before you can move to solutions.
Cornerstone has extensive experience with Alberta Justice’s Civil Mediation program and the Founder was a mentor in that same program
Land Negotiation
Cornerstone has developed multiple training programs for in-house Land Teams. These range from junior level courses (speaking & listening skills) to senior level skills where we walk teams through critical learnings from our extensive negotiating experience.
We work with clients to manage non-routine applications, re-zoning applications, ADR events (Mediations) and/or information sessions to inform the public on the scope of projects. Demonstrating a willingness to hear perspectives works towards shared understanding and/or mitigation of concerns.
Workplace Mediation
Workplace Mediation can be particularly helpful as it introduces an impartial third party that can facilitate a meeting between two or more people in dispute, to help them reach an agreement that meets all their needs. The key in coaching and/or mediation is to make sure the individuals feel safe, are comfortable and a mediation process can help to achieve that comfort. By having a proven process to utilize in conflict it can help to de-escalate the emotions and align on the hidden interests that are truly driving the conflict.
